Upgrading our website search engine

The NHS Employers website is undergoing improvements to enhance its search function and the user experience.

Following feedback from you, we are upgrading the search engine and content filters on the NHS Employers website over the coming week (27-31 January). Please bear with us while we carry out this work.

Once the work is complete our new search function will offer:

  • the ability to sort results by most relevant, newest or oldest
  • results filtered by keywords or year published
  • an autocomplete feature which predicts the rest of a word or phrase as you start typing
  • a “did you mean?” feature designed to help users find what they are looking for, even if they make a typo or spelling mistake.

To inform this work, over 200 web users took part in an exercise to categorise different topics into groups (keywords). This helps to make sure that any changes we are making are based on insights gathered from those who use our website regularly. 

We hope that the new search function allows you to find the information you need quickly, saving time and reducing frustration.
