Understanding faith and belief in the NHS

Share your views on religious expression at work and access a summary of our initial research findings on faith and belief in the NHS.

6 January 2025

As part of our ongoing work to shape more inclusive and respectful workplaces, we have launched the second part of our research to help us better understand faith and belief in the NHS.

Responses to phase one of the research, summarised in our new infographic, highlight the importance of supporting colleagues’ religious expression, and that this is even more significant in a climate of violence, antisemitism, racism and Islamophobia. Phase one also found that 78 per cent of staff who belong to a faith and belief staff network felt that the network had a positive impact on their personal wellbeing.

Take part in phase two

Phase two continues to explore religious expression at work and access to prayer spaces, and how faith and belief staff networks are coordinated within the NHS.

The survey is open to all NHS staff, with or without a faith or belief, until 31 March 2025 and we are keen to hear from frontline staff in particular.

Find out more details about the survey and access our communications resources to help promote the survey across your organisation.
