Pay award announcement 2024
Today, 29 July, the government has announced the 2024/25 pay award for staff under the remits of the NHS Pay Review Body (NHS PRB) and Doctors’ and Dentists’ Review Body (DDRB).
Details of the award are summarised below:
NHS PRB
- With effect from 1 April 2024, a 5.5 per cent consolidated uplift for all Agenda for Change staff on NHS terms and conditions.
DDRB
For doctors and dentists this will mean uplifting salaries by six per cent, applying to:
consultants
specialty and specialist (SAS) doctors
doctors and dentists in training who will also receive a uplift of £1,000
salaried dentists, including those working in community dental services and public dental services
contractor general medical practitioners
salaried general medical practitioners pay ranges
pay element of dental contracts
- no uplifts in Local Clinical Excellence Awards (these remain frozen).
All pay uplifts will be backdated to 1 April 2024.

We will update all the relevant material in response to the announcement, including updates to the NHS Terms and Conditions of Service Handbook and publication of a pay advisory notice (Agenda for Change) and a pay circular (medical and dental).
