eVisa updates and open UKVI account applications

UKVI is developing a digital by default immigration system to replace physical documents with an online record known as an eVisa. By 2025, almost all physical immigration products and services will be replaced an eVisa. 

Throughout the first half of 2024, UKVI was operating a phased roll out of eVisas and inviting those with certain visa types to create a UKVI account. 

UKVI has now opened registration to anyone who holds a physical immigration document.

We have updated our eVisa page to reflect this change. Updates include details on who needs to create a UKVI account, process and next steps, impact on right to work checks, and support resources for employers. 

The Home Office are also running a number of free virtual teach-in sessions where it will outline the changes and answer questions. Employers can sign up to these below:
