New pay circular for medical and dental staff 2024
Pay and Conditions Circular (M&D) 5/2024 has now been published and informs employers of the pay arrangements for staff covered by the national medical and dental terms and conditions of service in England, which apply from 1 April 2024.
The pay award announced by the government applies to hospital medical and dental staff, doctors and dentists in public health, the community health service, and salaried primary dental care (England).
The circular details new pay uplift figures for medical and dental staff in England with the exception of doctors and dentists in training.
For doctors and dentists in training, the government has accepted the DDRB recommendation for a 6 per cent increase to pay points plus a consolidated increase of £1,000 from 1 April 2024, but this will be calculated and processed once the referendum on the negotiated pay offer has concluded.
ESR have confirmed that uplifts will be applied and backdated in October 2024 salaries.
