Celebrating excellence in equality, diversity and inclusion
Find out which NHS organisations and individuals have been recognised at the enei, RIDI and Inclusive Companies awards.
During November and December 2023, three award events took place that recognised and celebrated the incredible work that organisations and individuals have undertaken to progress equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI).
A number of NHS organisations and staff were among the winners and highly commended, these included:
Employers Network for Equality and Inclusion (enei) Inclusivity Excellence Awards
- Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust were highly commended for their innovative approach to EDI.
- The shortlist for the awards also included Birmingham Women’s and Children's Hospital, North East Ambulance Service, NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit, NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit and Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust.
- enei also announced their TIDE award winners. There were nine NHS organisations ranked, some of which were our Diversity in Health and Care Partners, past and present showing the positive impact our programme has had on building inclusive workspaces.
Inclusive Companies Inclusive Awards 2023
- Avon & Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust, The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust , Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust were all named as one of their Inclusive Top 50 Employers.
- Nurse Joan Pons Laplana, NHS England and Bernadette Thompson OBE, Associate Director of Inclusion for Barts Health NHS Trust were named alongside our Disability Summit co-chair Jamie Shields on their 2023/24 Diversity Power List.
Recruitment Industry Disability Initiative (RIDI) Awards
- Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust and The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust were finalists in the Disability Confident: Public Sector category.
- Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust was a finalist in the Making a Difference: Public Sector category.
- The winner of the Disability Specialist Award went to the Empowerment Passport. Read our case study explaining how the Empowerment Passport can be used to improve the transition of disabled health learners, trainees and apprentices into the NHS workforce.
