Biometric Residents Permit service closes
As of today (31 October 2024), the Home Office has closed the Biometric Residents Permit (BRP) service meaning that individuals will no longer receive a BRP card to prove their immigration status or be able to request a replacement card.
From today, individuals making a new application for permission to stay in the UK will need to create a UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account as part of their application. This account will also be used to access their eVisa to prove their status in the UK.
Information and guidance is available via the GOV.uk website on what to do if someone has lost their BRP, or if it has been stolen or damaged.
For further information on how to support your staff during the transition to eVisas, please see our eVisas page. It contains links to access partner packs from the Home Office that includes support materials such as videos and model emails/intranet articles to inform impacted staff members.
