We went to King’s House Conference Centre in central Manchester for our Reward in the NHS 2025 event.

The event was free to attend and was aimed at those with a responsibility for reward in NHS organisations.

The event shared good practice and equipped delegates with innovative and practical reward information to take back into their own organisations to help them enhance existing resources within their total reward offer for greater impact in the face of continued workforce challenges.

Highlights from the programme

The generation game: understanding changing career behaviours in NHS staff, Billy Palmer, Senior Fellow, The Nuffield Trust. Billy looked at how an individual’s needs vary at different stages of their career and how expectations change over time.

Budget busting benefits, Adam Kirton, Assistant Director of Workforce, Pay, Policy and Reward, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Adam shared how his approach to providing reward on a budget that maximises impact for staff and generates savings to reinvest in the workforce.

Budget friendly recognition, Linsey Clements, Head of Employee Experience, Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust explored how it has transformed its recognition strategy on a small budget to gain the biggest impact for staff.

We each have a voice that counts – engaging with staff to ensure your total reward package is fit for purpose. This panel session focused on how staff have helped improve reward and recognition initiatives within NHS organisations and what the impact of this has been.

Leveraging behavioural science to drive communications engagement, Claire Hovey, Director of Behavioural Science, Acuity. Claire talked about how we can use behavioural science to generate effective communications for pensions, reward and recognition in the NHS.
