Midlands and East SPF conference 2023
Partnership working for better outcomes for staff, patients, now and beyond
This event has taken place, thank you very much to all who could join.
- Our National Engagement Service hosted the partnership conference for the Midlands and East on 13 November. This was our first in person conference since March 2020, and we were joined by over 60 delegates.
The meeting was co-chaired by Alan Lofthouse, UNISON member of the national SPF and Liz Cooke, HRD, Norfolk Community Health Services (and co-chair of EOE SPF and HRD network).
Alan Lofthouse shared the national SPF’s work on tackling violence and aggression and ways in which partnership working and will inform the national SPF’s future work.
Devon Partnership NHS Trust presented its just and learning culture approach to employee relations case work and the challenges on such a cultural shift for staff, HR and staff side colleagues.
Mid and South Essex shared its journey with recruitment and retention, this is now nationally recognised as a people promise exemplar. It included establishing and embedding people programmes such as mentoring, compassionate leadership, team health and civility and zero tolerance to bullying, harassment and discrimination.
Delegates were invited to influence the scope of the new ESR tool with the NHS Business Services Authority.
The Royal College of Nursing facilitated an in-depth discussion on equality, diversity and inclusion, and the implications and learning from the Michelle Cox employee relations case.
The regional SPF chairs gave an overview of their respective priorities and ongoing partnership work.
