Equality, Diversity and Human Rights Week 2025

Now in its thirteenth year, the week is a platform for health and care organisations to highlight their work to create a fairer and more inclusive NHS for both patients and staff.
We encourage health and care organisations from across the country to get involved and support the campaign locally. It's an opportunity to:
- Celebrate the great work taking place around equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) that is driving improvement.
- Spotlight effective strategies and good practice initiatives that supports the NHS Long Term Workforce Plan and EDI improvement plan - so that organisations can use these locally to drive change to build more inclusive organisations.
- Improve staff experience for all staff, including those from marginalised groups.
- Raise awareness and help tackle inequalities in the workplace.
Each day, we will focus on a different theme and share insights and good practice, including guidance, videos, case studies, blogs and infographics.

Why we must continue to invest in EDI
It is vital to invest in EDI, as shown by the 2024 NHS Staff Survey results, where a number of equality and diversity indicators have worsened – most notably where staff have experienced discrimination from the public. Inequalities in staff experience, measured within the Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES) and the Workforce Disability Equality Standard (WDES) have also remained fairly stagnant. Effective EDI practice is a powerful quality improvement tool which is a central lever for transformation and can be used to facilitate improvement
