British Dental Association members vote for industrial action
British Dental Association (BDA) has announced further strike action for its consultant and hospital dental trainees.
Consultants
The ballot was carried out on a trust-by-trust basis and 40 out of the 59 NHS trusts and other employing organisations that were balloted have won a mandate to proceed to strike action. Strike action dates are yet to be confirmed but the BDA has advised that it will ask its members to take part in strike action on Thursday 20 and Friday 21 July, unless ministers respond to this result with a credible offer regarding pay and reform of the pay review body. This is in line with the dates propsed by British Medical Association's (BMA) consultants.
Hospital dental trainees
The BDA has recently concluded a second ballot of hospital dental trainees in England. The outcome of that ballot is that there are 29 trusts where BDA members will be able to take industrial action.
In line with the BMA's junior doctors, its trainee BDA members working at the trusts listed below will strike for five days between 7am on 13 July and 7am on 18 July.
