Description of the role
County Durham and Darlington NHS Trust has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced medical leader to join as executive medical director. The successful candidate will drive clinical engagement to achieve high quality clinical outcomes and enhanced patient safety and experience. 

Preferably with a strong history of credible clinical leadership in an acute environment, the successful candidate will develop strategies that supports the delivery of creative solutions to clinical service and workforce challenges. In addition to the core professional leadership role, the post holder will be able to demonstrate skills and experience to be an effective member of the unitary board and executive team. 

The trust's ambition is to deliver unparalleled integrated services, which it believe's is the optimum way to support both it's community and staff. The trust is continuing to develop services for the future, including exciting new state of the art operating theatres at Darlington and upgrading of theatres in Bishop Auckland to create a centre of excellence for orthopaedic surgery. There are still many further opportunities for an innovative medical director to develop within the trust and the wider health economy. 

While the majority of the post holder's time will be spent delivering the duties of a medical director, it is envisaged that you will regularly participate in the clinical work of a designated service; time allocation to be agreed.
