We are excited to announce that, in partnership with the Tropical Health and Education Trust (THET), we are sponsoring a new award at this year’s Health Services Journal (HSJ) Awards in November.

For over 30 years the HSJ Awards, have recognised and celebrated excellence, innovation and the finest achievements that take place within the NHS every year, in front of the service’s most influential leaders.

We have long been convinced of the mutual benefits that can be gained through NHS staff volunteering overseas in low and middle income countries. Not only do these activities work to further Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and the strengthening of global health, but they also serve to build the skills and capacity of the NHS. The new International Health Partnership Award aims to exemplify this and to highlight the tireless efforts of volunteers.

The International Health Partnership award will recognise an NHS health organisation whose international health partnership exemplifies the THET’s Principles of Partnership. Our judges will be looking for evidence of strong, respectful and reciprocal partnerships which are leading to demonstrable improvements for patients in low and middle income countries as well as in the UK.

This is a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate the value of your health partnership and the impact that you have made to health system strengthening both overseas and in the UK and we look forward to receiving your submissions.
