New guidance for trailblazers has been published by The Institute for Apprenticeships (IFA).
The new how-to guide reflects the updated policy and processes of the recently established IFA and provides stage-by-stage guidance on the development of new apprenticeships, replacing the previous guidance.
Processes set out in the document will apply immediately (unless explicitly stated otherwise) to the development of all apprenticeship standards and End Point Assessment (EPA) plans, including those currently under development.
Use of the revised standard and EPA plan templates, which align to the new guidance and include the need for a more in-depth occupational profile, will also apply immediately.
Existing standards and EPA plans will be covered by the new process as and when they are submitted with updates, or come up for review. In view of this, it is particularly important that existing trailblazers note and act upon the updates contained in this edition.
A number of policy and process updates have been made since the “Guidance for Trailblazers – from standards to starts” was published in December 2015 which are all included in this new guidance for completeness, and for the benefit of new and potential trailblazers.
