Pensions: the benefits of additional voluntary contributions

Promoting the different ways that staff can save for their retirement helps demonstrate that you value their financial wellbeing.

One way of doing this is by communicating the benefits of additional voluntary contribution arrangements (AVCs) which allow members of the NHS Pension Scheme to increase retirement savings or choose to retire earlier.

There are two current providers of AVCs to the NHS Pension Scheme: Prudential and Standard Life.

Prudential has produced a poster highlighting the reasons why staff may want to increase retirement savings. You can access this and other resources on its dedicated Prudential NHS AVC web pages. Prudential has also launched a telephone joining service, making it easier for staff to access this additional savings option.

You can find out more about the different ways that your staff can increase their benefits on the NHS Pensions website.

For more information on Standard Life, including the joining methods and communications materials, view the Standard Life NHS AVC web pages.
