The NHS Staff Council has agreed a two-year consolidation of learning programme. This aims to support new paramedics to deliver the scope of practice demanded by current out-of-hospital emergency healthcare.
This programme will support newly qualified paramedics and help improve staff retention. Individual trusts will determine how best to support their new paramedics during the consolidation period. This will include theoretical knowledge and practical skills in operational settings, which will be assessed against standards specified in learning outcomes.
Working in partnership, employers and arms-length bodies have produced a set of principles, job description and FAQs
to support the introduction of the programme, which will apply to paramedics qualified on or after 1 September 2016. Further information
