We would like to hear your views on the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and NHS Improvement’s 'Consultations on the use of resources and the well-led assessments’.

The consultations will gather proposals for how NHS trusts and foundation trusts can make effective use of resources, leadership and governance enabling them to provide sustainable high quality services.

Well-led means that the leadership, management and governance of an organisation assures the delivery of high quality person-centred care, supports learning and innovation, and promotes an open and fair culture. This is an updated version of the framework, which was originally put in place by CQC and is currently being used to assess organisations, and by trusts for their own development purposes.

NHS Employers response will focus on the people element of the frameworks, we ask that you pay particular attention to:

Q4. What are your views on the indicative key lines of enquiry and prompt questions that we are proposing for the assessment of trusts’ use of resources as set out in Annex A?

Q5. What are your views on the indicative characteristics we have proposed for the use of resources ratings of outstanding, good, requires improvement and inadequate as set out in Annex A?

Q7. Do you agree with the additions to the well-led framework?

Ensure your views are heard

We will provide a collective response to the consultation on behalf of employers in the NHS.

If you would like to submit your views as part of the collective response please can you submit your views and feedback by Friday 3 February 2017 to ensure they are included in our collective response, or if you want to discuss your views with us first, please email steven.weeks@nhsemployers.org

We would be grateful to employers who are willing to share their individual responses with us in advance.

Alternatively, you can submit an individual response directly, by 5pm on 14 February 2017 via the online survey. If you experience any difficulties, please email NHSICQC.Consultation@nhs.net
